Skilling and Capacity Building
Skilling refers to the process of providing individuals with the necessary training and education to acquire specific skills. In the context of the Centre of Excellence for Farm Mechanization Skill, skilling aims to equip farmers, farm workers, and other stakeholders with the technical skills required to operate various types of farm machinery, such as tractors, harvesters, irrigation systems, and other agricultural equipment.
Capacity building, on the other hand, refers to the broader process of developing the abilities, knowledge, and resources of individuals, organizations, and communities. In the context of farm mechanization, capacity building focuses on strengthening the overall agricultural sector by providing comprehensive training programs, workshops, and technical assistance. This includes not only technical skills but also managerial and entrepreneurial skills, as well as promoting the adoption of best practices and advanced technologies in farm mechanization.
  • Skill training of farmers, organisations, developmental institutions, farmer clubs, FPOs, and cooperative leaders in the latest technologies and types of equipment.
  • Improve the global competitiveness of India in the farm mechanization sector by investing in capacity-building initiatives and skill development.
  • Improving on and off-farm productivity through an introduction, showcase, and dissemination of global and Indian best practices on skilling of youth and farmers on current and emerging trends in the Farm Mechanization sector.
Knowledge Management
Knowledge management within the Centre of Excellence is to ensure that the valuable knowledge and expertise related to farm mechanization are effectively preserved, shared, and made accessible to farmers, agricultural workers, technicians, researchers, and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector.

Research
Research vertical of COE will be playing a pivotal role in assessing and identifying the gaps in skilling as well as creating a large inventory of existing knowledge bases in relevant areas. The research conducted at the Centre of Excellence for Farm Mechanization Skill aims to address the challenges and opportunities in the field of agricultural mechanization in India. This can involve studying the specific needs and requirements of Indian farmers, considering the diverse agricultural practices across different regions of the country, and identifying suitable mechanization solutions that can improve agricultural productivity, reduce labour-intensive tasks, and enhance sustainability.
  • supply of skilled manpower in the identified sectors and sub-sectors.
  • Evolution of the sector and modulating new skill requirements for the technology changes.
  • Map the emerging technologies against the needs and identify opportunities for entrepreneurship.
  • Study the evolution of the sector and modulating new skill requirements for the technology changes
Advisory Services
